The Falklands marine environment is a globally significant breeding place for a multitude of wildlife, including penguins, albatrosses, seals, dolphins and whales.

In 2022, it was declared a Key Biodiversity Area for nine seabird species plus the endangered sei whale. In early 2025, the southern right whale joined this list.

Here are images Salmon Free Falklands collected during our recent ‘Celebrate our Coastal Waters’ social media campaign in which we invited people to upload images using #salmonfreefalklands showing why our waters mean so much to us.
